Neuschwanstein Castle

King Ludwig II’s fairy-tale castle is one of the highlights for visitors, both from Germany and abroad.

In 1869, construction started on the castle, which was built in the style of a medieval fortress at an exposed position overlooking the Alpsee. However, due to the sudden, mysterious death of the king in 1886, the impressive construction was never completely finished.

Within the context of a guided tour, guests can visit the 16 rooms of the former castle. This tour lasts approx. 30 minutes and is offered In German and English, as well as in numerous other languages, when using an audio-guide. Since the death of King Ludwig II, over 50 million visitors have visited the Neuschwanstein Castle.
