SEESPITZ-tip:
From Lake Weissensee to the Kögelalm

A varied cycling tour with plenty of views and a stop at an alpine hut
This tour (approx. 22 km) is varied and offers lovely views. It has a few minor ascents on easily passable dirt tracks and small side roads.

Route
From SEESPITZ, we depart towards Füssen. After about 100 m, we turn left into Wörther Straße opposite the lido. We then continue slightly uphill until we turn left after approx. 500 m onto a dirt path (at the beginning of the path, there is a small wayside cross). We follow the signs towards Speiden/Eisenberg until the path meets a main road at Urbenthal. Turning left here, we continue on a quiet, winding, side road towards Eisenberg. We pass the Unterdolden hamlet, turn right in Speiden and continue towards Eisenberg. In Eisenberg, we cross the main road and continue straight ahead towards Weizern. We then turn left in Weizern and briefly cycle along the main road before turning left again towards the mountain cheese maker’s shop in Weizern. Passing the Lieben and Schwarzenbach hamlets, we follow the little road to the Kögelweiher pond. In the summer, this pond is a great place for a bath.

Refreshments
The Kögelalm alpine hut (sign-posted) offers a lovely opportunity for refreshments with authentic Allgäu cuisine – simply follow the fork just before the Kögelweiher pond uphill. From the alpine hut, a short meadowland path offers us a shortcut towards Oberdolden (see photo – it is best to dismount the bikes here). We continue along beautiful views via Hummel and Schweinegg to Zell. Passing Eisenberg and Unterdolden, we then return to our original point of departure.
